Phelwana Game Lodge is a private reserve situated in the heart of the "Big Five" country. Our lodge is only 48 kilometers from the Orpen Gate entrance to the world renowned Kruger National Park.
We offer a unique hide-out for nature lovers. Nature Conservation is the underlying principle to this entire earthy splendor, and every effort is made to preserve Phelwana as a sanctuary for people who care for nature.
Set in 160 hectares of unspoiled bushveld, the estate is home to 18 species of game animals including kudu, buffalo, zebra, hippo, impala, giraffe and nyala
Game viewing is on self guided walks, day and night guided drives on an open vehicle and a 10 meter tower for a bird's eye view.
You may watch the plentiful bird life from the comfort of your own stoep, walk in the indigenous bush or visit the dam where wandering hippos may be in residence.
Further afield, Phelwana is the perfect base from which to explore the lowveld. Visit a near by cheetah breeding project or a wildlife rehabilitation centre. Take a guided tour to see white lions or tour the spectacular Panorama Route along the edge of the escarpment.
Accommodation at Phelwana is in comfortable, traditionally African thatched chalets nestled amongst the dense natural bush. The spacious units are fully equipped for self-catering and are fitted with fans and insect screens.
The chalets, accommodating 2 to 6 persons in two bedrooms, are situated on different parts of the estate to ensure absolute privacy. Each has its own swimming pool and boma for night braai's, with a cozy fire, sizzling steaks and the unequalled heartbeat of Africa.
A secluded caravan park with power points, ablution block, a swimming pool, a trampoline, putt putt and a jungle gym is also part of this unique game lodge.
Other recreational facilities include biking trails and a games room which features a pool table, table tennis, darts, board games and television.
Our shop sells curios as well as basic grocery supplies. There is a laundry, fax and telephone service on request and a conference room is available.
Typical South African breakfasts and dinners can be provided - these are served in our reeded boma. Enjoy your dinner around a fire under a starry sky, whilst listening to sounds of the bush.
